Farmhouse At Hasanur

Hasanur is a quiet village on the outskirts of the Sathyamangalam forest range and enjoys a mild climate throughout most of the year.
The site for the farmhouse was carved out of the larger agricultural holding and fenced to keep the elephants away. An abandoned stone quarry and a beautiful Banyan tree add to the charm of the site.
The plot gave us the freedom to work out a perfectly square plan on two levels.
On the ground floor, the central living space is a large square with the rooms and the verandah wrapping around it.
On the first floor, the central square becomes the viewing gallery, giving views of the rolling hills and forests on all four sides. This gallery doubles as a dorm-type sleeping space during family get-togethers.
